CAM-Sponsored Gifford Prepares for Rounds 5 & 6 of Ultimate Pool

It’s been a busy few months for CAM-sponsored Richard Gifford, as he’s been making preparations for the next rounds of Ultimate Pool, held this weekend in Blackpool.

As well as undertaking his regular pre-match intensive practice on the baize, Gifford has upped the ante, now also adding gym time and healthy eating to his match preparations. Gifford explains more.

“Match days are long days. Especially if you’re winning. 12 hours of back-to-back competitive pool really tests your stamina. Improving my physical fitness will hopefully build my match day resilience and help me avoid the late afternoon slump.”

In the last Ultimate Pool weekend back in March, Gifford made it through to the last 32, losing against Jamie Burnett who went on to make it through to the final.

“I’m hoping my new healthier lifestyle will give me the edge that I’ve been missing. I’m also banking on it helping with the heat in Morocco when I play in the Pool World Championships later next month.”

Representing Wales in the Pool World Championship starting July 2nd, Gifford will compete in the World Singles, World Doubles with Mike Quinn, the World Team Championship and the Shootout. More on Gifford at the Moroccan World Championship later this month.
