At CAM, technology is at the heart of what we do, but it's our people who make it happen. Behind every solution we design, every system we implement, and every challenge we solve is a team of talented individuals bringing together a wide range of skills, perspectives, and experience.
To highlight the people behind our work, we've been running a blog series that introduces the team at CAM and the part they play in our success.
From engineering and product development to operations, customer support, sales, and leadership, each post shines a light on a different team member. You'll hear about their day-to-day role, the challenges they enjoy tackling, and how their work supports the wider business.
This series goes beyond job titles. It's about the people behind them. We'll explore career journeys, unexpected routes into tech, lessons learned along the way, and what it's really like to work at CAM.
Whether you're interested in learning more about our teams, considering a career with us, or simply want to understand how we work, we hope this series offers a closer look at the people behind CAM.
Next up is Steve Hollingsbee, Head of Service Delivery. Steve leads several of CAM's core operational teams, including Support, Project Delivery, Infrastructure, and our OTC Data team.
How long have you worked at CAM and what’s your role?
I’ve worked at CAM for 7 years, currently as a Head of Service Delivery, which means I wear a few hats. I oversee core operational departments within CAM, including Support, Project Delivery, Infrastructure and our OTC Data team. My main responsibilities are ensuring that all departments are running efficiently and removing any blockers they have in their way.
What problem do you solve here that most people wouldn’t notice?
One of the biggest challenges that often goes unnoticed is that no two people are the same. Team members have different strengths, personalities, motivations and ways of working. A big part of my role is adapting my leadership style to support each individual while ensuring everyone is treated fairly and consistently.
What’s something you’ve worked on that you’re genuinely proud of?
The first was project managing the largest implementation in CAM's history, deploying our Warehouse Management System for one of our biggest customers. The rollout covered five warehouses and more than 50 depots. Like any project of that scale, there were challenges along the way, but seeing it successfully delivered and knowing the impact it had for both the customer, and the business made it one of my proudest achievements.
The second was working closely with our Finance team to redesign and automate our monthly billing process. By reviewing and improving the platform and the way we worked, we reduced the billing cycle from around two and a half days to just six hours. Seeing the amount of time, we save and the efficiency gains for the Finance team has been incredibly rewarding.
What does a great day at work look like for you?
A great day at work is one where I have the time to focus without too many interruptions. Those are the days when I can step back from the day-to-day and look at how we can improve the way our teams operate. Whether it's identifying opportunities for automation, introducing more proactive monitoring of key processes, or exploring new features within our internal tools. I enjoy finding ways to make our teams more efficient and allow them to focus on delivering the best possible service.
What excites you about where the company is going?
What excites me most is that we're never standing still. As CAM continues to grow, we're constantly looking to improve our products, our processes and the experience we deliver to customers. Being part of the journey to help shape how we operate and seeing new ideas become reality is something I really enjoy.
Life outside of CAM
Outside of CAM, life is pretty busy in the best way. My wife and I recently bought a new house in a small village just outside the office, so a lot of my spare time is spent project managing the renovation and slowly turning it into a home.
When I do get downtime, I enjoy playing and following football (celebrating Arsenal winning the Premier League for the first time in 22 years last season), but most of my time outside work is happily taken up by my two children, aged 6 and 3, who keep me on my toes. I also have a dog, Zeus, who is a regular in the office and is always happy to greet anyone who stops by.
