At CAM, our work is driven by technology, but it’s powered by people. Behind every solution we design, every system we implement, and every challenge we solve, there’s a team of individuals bringing different skills, perspectives, and experiences together.

To celebrate that, we’re launching a new blog series designed to introduce the people at CAM and the role they play in shaping what we do.

From engineering and product development to operations, customer support, sales, and leadership, each post will spotlight a different team member. You’ll hear directly from them about what their role involves day to day, the challenges they enjoy solving, and how their work contributes to the wider goals of the business.

This series isn’t just about job titles - it’s about the stories behind them. We’ll explore career journeys, unexpected paths into tech, lessons learned along the way, and what it’s really like to work at CAM.

Whether you want to learn more about other teams, a prospective employee curious about life here, or a partner interested in how we operate, we hope this series gives you an insight into who we are.

Up first is Frankie Sharp, Head of Product Development. Frankie plays a pivotal role in making sure our products meet customer and partner needs.

How long have you worked at CAM and what’s your role?

This year marks my 13th year at CAM, during which I have held a variety of roles. Currently, as Head of Product Management, I am responsible for all aspects of people management within the Product and Development teams at CAM, as well as coordinating and managing relationships between CAM, MIT@pps, and third-party partners.

What problem do you solve here that most people wouldn’t notice?

The inner working between CAM and MIT@pps, understanding how the overall system flows between CAM’s Fitterforce and MIT@pps’ TiDaeX platform alongside manufacturer / third party integrations, ensuring all continue to work in unison.

I also play a key role in system design and integration when new development is required in either of these areas which could range from a new feature being added directly by our developers in TiDaeX, to third party systems integrating and providing detail on how that integration would need to be done to not only benefit TiDaeX users but also those using CAM’s Fitter-Force.

What’s something you’ve worked on that you’re genuinely proud of?

The expansion of Fitterforce which has opened the gateway to moving all Cam Portal customers across from Uniserv to Fitterforce, a more modern, unified platform. This is important because it helps simplify the product landscape, gives customers access to a more integrated end-to-end solution, and provides a stronger foundation for future development.

Our latest migration had a lot of moving parts and the hard work put in from the product team I think really helped keep this as smooth as possible. Having established CAM's product management function and later gone on to lead the team, I have played a key role in building the product processes, collaboration, and strategic focus that have supported initiatives of this scale.

What does a great day at work look like for you?

Part of my day is often spent problem solving. Whether that’s working out how a new piece of new functionality needs to work, working out a software bug to hand over to development or something not behaving right and trying to work out what configuration is or isn’t present to resolve the problem behaviour. Sometimes these can be quick to overcome and can you move on with the rest of your day. But when you get one that isn’t obvious, and you cannot let it drop, as it really bugs you, when you finally work it out, it can be rewarding - although sometimes infuriating when it’s been staring right at you the whole time!

What excites you about where the company is going?

Future developments of Fitterforce, such as automated invoicing alongside our WMS solution have the potential to reduce manual administration, improve accuracy, and help customers get from completed work to payment much faster. I'm also excited about my work on MIT@pps and the new version of e-jobsheet, which I've been involved with since last year. The new platform gives customers a more modern and reliable experience and provides a stronger foundation for future enhancements. As we migrate users across, we'll be in a much better position to introduce new functionality, streamline workflows, and respond more quickly to customer needs.

Life outside of CAM

I’m a rugby fan and spend many weekends supporting the Cherry & Whites at Kingsholm (Gloucester for the non-rugby folk!). Outside of rugby, I enjoy keeping active, whether that's at the gym or getting out for a run. Earlier this year I got engaged, so much of my spare time is currently being spent planning our wedding for early next year, which is both exciting and keeping me busy! I’m also a proud cat mum to Mr Milo, who definitely rules the house!
